We believe that everyone has the capacity for creation.
We hope to create a space for communities who often feel side lined, and to use the people around us as inspiration for art. Whether it is a new queer play, or an event to help support the community, we hope to be there with all of our capacity for everyone who feels the joy in creation.
Emma Cole
Managing Producer

Emma Cole is a writer, designer, producer, and anarchist bookseller from St. John’s, NL. She holds a Bachelor of Arts from Acadia University in English and Theatre. By day she works for local arts organizations in sales, communications, and administration, and on other days she coordinates and designs costumes for theatre. Her creative writing has won awards from Kiwanis, Arts and Letters, and WritersNL, and been featured by CBC, estuary Arts Magazine, toothcut, and Riddle Fence. Emma brings an enthusiasm for theatre and her local arts community to her work with Capacity Theatre Company.
Gabrielle
Therrien
Artistic Director

Capacity Theatre's founder Gabrielle Therrien is an actress, playwright, singer, and theatre teacher from Halifax, NS. She earned her Bachelor of Arts in Theatre from Acadia University. She has worked in theatre, television, radio, and film. Over her career she is credited with voicing many Atlantic Lottery campaigns. They are employed by the Neptune Theatre School where they help to develop educational theatre programming for Nova Scotian communities. She hopes to foster an environment within Capacity for anyone and everyone who wants to create to have a home to do so within the company.
